Sheila Mayne and Susan Caesar celebrate 15 years at the ELP

For almost 15 years, Language Specialists Sheila Mayne and Susan Caesar have been teaching at the ELP. They have had countless experiences and interacted with students from all over the world. As Susan says, "The ELP is a microcosm of life." She has been able to share many life experiences with her colleagues, but it is the students that keep them both here. Each class and each student is unique, so teaching, they say, always stays interesting and they truly love their students. Read on to learn more about these two incredible instructors.

Steve Kopec presents at Language Without Borders workshop

This April, ELP Lecturer Steve Kopec will conduct a presentation entitled "'Canvas-ing' Rough Drafts: Utilizing Multimedia and Canvas to Guide Students through the Writing Process" as part of the Penn "Language without Borders: Technology Principles and Practices for Language Educators" workshop. This presentation is geared toward instructors wishing to encourage students to write drafts for short essays or longer research papers.

Jeri Ahern and Karen Murray present at TESOL Qatar

Congratulations to ELP Lecturers Jeri Ahern and Karen Murray on their accepted to present at the TESOL Conference in Qatar in January 2016. Their presentation will be on “Adapting Presentation Styles to Meet Cultural Norms.” In this session, they explore presentation skills pedagogy and examine how to increase non-native speakers’ awareness of the nuances of presenting in English. Projects using cognitive multimedia principles will be shared. Attendees will leave with a wide variety of project templates that can be modified for different lesson objectives.

Sarah Grosik attends White House conference on Technology in English

ELP Associate Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Sarah Grosik, attended the White House Conference on Technology in English on September 15, 2015.

Leading up to the event, Grosik guest Instagrammed her preparation for the event on ELP's Instagram account.
