You must turn 18 years old within six months of the first day of the program and you must have graduated from high school.
New students must place into the intermediate (600) level on the Intensive Program Placement Test taken during orientation. A TOEFL iBT score of 70+ or equivalent score on another English proficiency exam can be presented at the time of application as evidence of intermediate level for students who wish to register for UniConn Plus in advance. However, final approval for enrollment in UniConn Plus will be based on placement test results. If you have not taken one of these tests, contact the ELP for assistance.
Students who place below the intermediate level on the placement test may participate in weekly UniConn workshops and may schedule one-on-one appointments with UniConn advisors to develop an individualized academic plan and make sure they are on the correct path for taking advantage of the UniConn program once they have a higher level of English proficiency.
