About the workshop
Do you want to speak English more clearly and connect better with your listeners? This workshop offers practical strategies to refine your pronunciation and improve how easily others can understand you. In each session, you’ll work on key aspects of English speech, including rhythm, stress, intonation, pausing, and linking. Through engaging exercises and personalized feedback, you’ll build confidence and learn to communicate effectively in various contexts—whether you’re having a casual conversation, leading a discussion, or presenting your ideas to an audience. The series is recommended for international master’s students, PhD students, and post-doc fellows. As the series will build on skills, students should plan to attend all workshops in the series.
In these workshops, you will:
- Make your intended meaning clearer with accurate segmental pronunciation
- Improve word and sentence stress, linking, and intonation to enhance pronunciation
- Increase clarity of presentational language and delivery
- Improve self-monitoring of your language for accuracy
Workshop series topics
- Segmental pronunciation and diagnostics
- Word stress and field-specific term pronunciation
- Sentence (focus) stress
- Linking words and reducing sounds
- Intonation for oral sentences and paragraphs
