Program-specific Requirements

Most programs require additional documents to be included with your application materials, such as test proficiency scores.  Please see below for program-specific requirements:

  • Intensive Program (IP)

Important Note: The ELP does not teach beginners (level 100 and level 200). If you speak no English, or speak just basic English, the ELP is not the right program for you at the moment.

Level 300 pre-intermediate students applying to our program must be able to:

  • speak and write about familiar topics in English
  • be able to understand and read simple information in English (CEFR A2-level)

Applicants scoring below level 300 on our pre-arrival placement test will not be admitted and will receive a full refund.

  • University Connection (UniConn) 
    • Complete the "University Connection" section of application.
    • New students must place into the 600 level of the Intensive Program.
  • University Connection Plus (UniConn Plus)
    • Complete the "University Connection" section of application.
    • One of the following as proof of language proficiency at a CEFR level of B2-:
      • Internet-based TOEFL of 70+
      • IELTS of 6.0+
      • If you have not taken one of these tests, contact the ELP for assistance.
  • Institute for Academic and Professional Studies (IAPS)
    • At least 18 years old
    • Complete the "Institute for Academic and Professional Studies" section of the application.
    • One of the following as proof of language proficiency at a CEFR level of A2
      • Internet-based TOEFL of 40+
      • IELTS of 5.0+
      • TOEIC of 400+
      • DET of 45+
      • If you have not taken one of these tests, the Online Placement Test will be used to determine eligibility and placement. 

Please note that the program coordinator will not review your application until all materials have been received.
