When the UPenn ELP center notified me via email that I had been accepted as one of the Omani students who will study there, I couldn't believe it. I wanted to study there because I enjoy studying in a setting with a lot of people from many nations and cultures. I appreciate seeing various cultures mix because I believe it brings the globe closer together.

"I came to improve my English, but the major motive in my mind is to enjoy the experience."

Like every other student here, I came to improve my English, but the major motive in my mind is to enjoy the experience. I've been here a month, and I had more fun than I had anticipated. This month, I did many things that I could not do in my home nation. I have friends from many other nations, including Qatar, Kuwait, Korea, and Japan, not to mention my new Colombian best friend. The amazing thing about him is that he is much older than I am. His name is Javier. Moreover, whenever my family has asked me what I liked best about the ELP, I have always replied, "I can't pick just one thing; I like everything in the ELP." programs, classmates, instructors, and even the place.

Yes, there are difficulties here, such as the cold weather, living alone for the first time, and applying to US universities. But the student center and our teachers are always there to support us and offer us some wisdom to overcome these difficulties.

After a month at UPenn ELP, I can conclude that coming here was a wise decision. I will try to enjoy it as much as I can, though, because I still have five more months left in the ELP and I don't want to look back and regret it.
