Amanda Thompson

Lecturer

What Ms. Thompson does: She teaches in Penn's Intensive English Program, as well as custom short programs.

Experience: She has taught ESL for 10 years, the last seven at Penn's ELP. While at Penn, she has taught a wide variety of academic and business English classes and has developed a specialty in teaching second-language writing. This includes courses for undergraduates and graduates, as well as curriculum design for intermediate and advanced writing courses.  

In addition to teaching, Ms. Thompson has presented nationally and internationally at the Symposium on Second Language Writing (2016, 2017, & 2019) and is currently conducting research on academic integrity in second language writing for the 2020 SSLW conference (June, Istanbul). She also mentors students in Penn's Graduate School of Education.
