Admission Requirements

You must be at least 18 years old and have a language proficiency at the CEFR level of A2 as demonstrated by TOEFL iBT of 40+, IELTS of 5.0+, TOEIC of 400+ or DET 45+. Institute for Academic and Professional Studies (IAPS) is designed for undergraduate students and is not appropriate for working professionals.

Levels of study

IAPS is divided into three levels and applicants should provide a copy of a standardized test taken within two years of the program start date. The test score is used to determine the best level of study for each student.

  • Pre-Intermediate level: A minimum CEFR level of A2+ as demonstrated by TOEFL iBT of 40+, IELTS of 5.0+, TOEIC of 400+, or DET 45+
  • Intermediate level: A minimum CEFR level of B1- as demonstrated by TOEFL iBT of 57+, IELTS of 5.5+, TOEIC of 550+, or DET 65+
  • Advanced level: A minimum CEFR level of B2+ as demonstrated by TOEFL iBT of 83+, IELTS of 6.5+, TOEIC of 800+, or DET 105+

Online placement test

If you do not have a current test score but believe you are at a pre-intermediate level or higher, our online placement test will be used to determine eligibility after submitting your application. Once the application is received, students will receive information about how to take the test.
