What Sarah Grosik does: Sarah oversees the academics and administration for all of the programs and courses here at the ELP. That means she is responsible for implementing the strategic plans for each of these programs, ensuring the success of all programs, and supporting new program development.
Experience: Before coming to Penn, she taught EFL abroad in a secondary school in Gabon as a Peace Corps volunteer and at an English language institute in China. When she returned to the US, she completed the Philadelphia Teaching Fellows program to become an elementary ESL classroom teacher in the School District of Philadelphia and taught adult ESL classes at Bucks County Community College. She also served as a research and teaching assistant at Temple University for several years, where she taught teacher education courses on the foundations of teaching English language learners.
Sarah completed her dissertation study exploring international students' paths to university study through intensive English programs and currently teaches courses in the Educational Linguistics division of Penn’s Graduate School of Education.
Travels: During her undergraduate studies, she studied abroad in Rome, Italy. She lived and taught abroad in Gabon and China and has been lucky enough to travel extensively in Europe, Africa, South America, and North America.
