The Program will be divided into two sections, in line with the US university academic calendar. Global Citizen Program: Full Program students will participate in Part One during the first 4 months of the program and in Part Two during the last 4 months of the program. Global Citizen Program: Accelerated Program students will only participate in Part Two.
Full Program Part One (4 months): Academic English Skill Development
- Intensive English language instruction: (20 hours per week)
You will take a placement test during orientation and then choose from a variety of courses according to your language proficiency level and academic goals.
Full Program Part Two/Accelerated Program (4 months): Academic English and Academic Credit Study
- One Undergraduate Credit Course: (3 hours per week)
You will select one (1) semester-long undergraduate credit course from the University of Pennsylvania's College of Liberal and Professional Studies (LPS). Participation in a credit course will allow you to experience the dynamic US university classroom. Credit course options will depend on academic background and English proficiency. Ability to transfer credit back to your home university will depend on the policies of your home university. Students with a proficiency level near 100 TOEFL iBT may be able to enroll in additional credit courses. Advisor approval would be required and each additional credit course would incur additional tuition and fees.
- English language and academic support electives: (15 hours per week)
You will select six English language electives (three per 7-week session) to further develop your academic English and global communication skills.
