Lisa Taglang

University Connection Programs Manager

What Ms. Taglang does: As the University Connection Programs Manager, she provides support for students whose goal is to earn a degree at a U.S. university. She oversees UniConn classes such as Writing the University Application Essay and Writing the Graduate Application Statement, academic advising and college counseling, and admissions related workshops. She also manages Foundation Year Programs for students in the SABIC and KAUST scholarship programs, and serves as a liaison between the ELP and student sponsors.

Experience: She has been working with English language learners since 1996, and has been with the ELP since 2006, first as a lecturer, then as a language specialist, and now in her current role. In addition to her responsibilities as UniConn Manager, she is a rater for the SPEAK and IPT proficiency tests, has designed curricula for groups of students with specific needs and goals, is a trained site reviewer for the Commission on English Language Accreditation (CEA), and has begun the process of ACTFL OPI certification.

Travels: She has taught English as a Foreign Language in Japan, the Czech Republic, and South Korea.  She has also lived in France and traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia.
