Manager of Testing and Programs

What Ms. Gillstrom does: She manages International Teaching Assistant (ITA) testing and training, as well as several other graduate student programs and services (Dental, Wharton, Law, Nursing, J-1 Scholars). She also supports proficiency testing in the Intensive program, placement testing in special programs, and helps oversee grant projects, like creating five content-based English Language MOOCs for the State Department.

Experience: She has worked in the English Language Programs (ELP) since January 2010. Before coming to Penn, she taught English at Drexel University ELC, ELS - Grand Valley State University, and abroad in India and Peru. She has also worked as a TOEIC rater, is a certified ACTFL OPI interviewer, and volunteers on the TESOL ITA-IS steering committee.

Travels: She has taught English in Kolkata India, and in Chachapoyas, Peru. In addition to India and Peru, she has traveled to Croatia, France, Hungary, Turks and Caicos, Spain, and Saint Martin. She hopes to visit many more places in the future!
